Ofcom has given details on how it intends to regulate on demand services next year.
The regulator is taking full control of on demand regulations from January 1, 2016, having previously outsourced them to ATVOD.
It plans to introduce new procedures for investigating breaches of rules for on-demand programme services to replace the Interim Breach Procedures, and to align more closely with the position for linear television broadcasting.
No fees will be charged for the regulation – an area of ATVOD that was often criticised within the industry.
Two websites have also been established for consumer and industry.
