The programmes of action sports channel EDGEsport will be shown in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on the TV channels of ProSiebenSat.1.
The German commercial broadcaster acquired the multi-year distribution rights for free-to-air TV, pay-TV and video-on-demand from operating company IMG. The deal also includes the rights to sublicense the content to third parties in German-speaking Europe.
Kick-off is with EDGE Action Sports World on pay-TV channel ProSieben Fun. The weekly trend sports programme provides an inside view of international sports events.
The EDGEsport channel launched by IMG in 2012 is broadcast in 25 countries, reaching a total of more than 300 million households. The schedule comprises international action sports events from the areas of snowboarding, surfing, kite surfing, mountain biking, skateboarding, free skiing, wakeboarding, BMX and motor sports.
With the agreement, ProSiebenSat.1 strengthens its sports portfolio which has recently been expanded by the stake purchases in Sportdeutschland.TV, EverSport and 90min.com as well as the launch of the new combat sports streaming portal ran Fighting.
