Horse & Country TV has acquired the OTT subscription business of local Swedish competitor, Horse1.
From Monday, December 14, Horse1’s existing subscriber base will transfer to H&C’s own online service, H&C Play.
As well as watching online, viewers will be able to watch on their mobile devices via the H&C Play apps for iOS and Android. Subscriber accounts will be seamlessly transferred to the new service, without the need to re-register or re-enter payment details.
“OTT services are a key element in the suite of products and services we offer to the passionate audience for horses and horse sport,” commented H&C CEO Heather Killen.
“They’re young, upmarket, predominantly female and tech savvy, and OTT offers a natural fit with their lifestyles. The addition of Horse1’s subscribers is a major step forward for H&C in Sweden and for the network as a whole, and we look forward to rolling out H&C Play in more markets in the very near future.”
H&C runs localized feeds on cable, satellite and digital platforms, passing 19 million households in the UK and Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, Sweden, Australia and Germany. H&C Play launched in the UK in 2013 and has been available in Sweden since December 2014. In addition to the linear channel, subscribers to H&C Play get 10-day catch-up, exclusive on-demand content, and H&C’s news and blog feeds.
