The privatisation of Telekom Srbija, though apparently in its final stages, is not a foregone conclusion.
Quoted in several local media sources, Zeljko Sertic, the country’s economy minister, said that the government has still not made a decision on the sale of the incumbent.
He added that even if the company is not sold it will not remain in its current form and will be restructured.
Sertic also said that while Telekom Srbija currently makes a profit, there is no guarantee that it will still do so in 3-5 years time, given the big changes currently taking place in the telecom market.
A final decision on the sale is expected later this week.
