Analogue cable TV distribution will be terminated in Austria by September 2016.
The remaining analogue TV households will be encouraged to make the transition to digital reception through an information campaign launched by the telco and broadcaster department of Austria’s Chamber of Trade.
The core of the information campaign which is financially supported through the digitalisation funds of regulatory authority RTR is the website www.digitaleskabel.at.
Cable is the last remaining analogue TV distribution platform in Austria following the full digitalisation of satellite and terrestrial transmissions. Only 9% of Austrian TV households still just use analogue cable TV.
Neighboring Germany aims for analogue switch-off on cable by the end of 2018.
