A law on public service broadcasting could come into effect in Poland at the beginning of 2016.
Quoted by Wirtualne Media, Krzysztof Czabanski, the country’s vice minister of culture, said that the legislation, which will be presented to the parliament (Sejm) this week, does not specify how the boards of public service broadcasters, including TVP, we be formed.
Instead, this will be decided by members of a new, five-member body known as the National Media Council (RMN).
The law will see national public broadcasters, including TVP, into cultural institutes.
Separately, Poland’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has announced a reduction in the receiver licence fee for 2016.
Viewers will from next year be require to pay PLN22.70 (€5.26) a month.
