Trace has launched its first radio station, Trace FM, in Abidjan, the capital city of Ivory Coast. More stations are planned for Africa.
Called Trace FM Côte d’Ivoire, the radio station “is the first FM radio dedicated to Ivorian youth music and culture. It is also the first radio station launched by the Trace group in Africa, following the tremendous success of Trace FM stations in the Caribbean, which are leaders in their respective territories.”
News of the launch of a Trace FM station in Africa was first reported in Broadband TV News last September.
The station has received a licence from the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) of Ivory Coast. Trace FM will operate first in Abidjan and progressively extend its reach across the whole Ivorian territory.
“This launch is a new step in Trace Group’s strategy, which aims to build a pan-African network of local FM radios, TV channels, digital platforms and mobile businesses, in collaboration with influential local partners,” said Olivier Laouchez, CEO, chairman and co-founder.
“We will also be launching new FM radio channels in several major African cities in 2016”.
