Unitymedia rolls out Liberty’s Connect Box in Germany

November 30, 2015 11.46 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Connect Box Front Top Left (UPC Cablecom)German cable operator Unitymedia has commenced offering its customers the new high-speed Wi-Fi gateway Connect Box.

The router which parent company Liberty Global wants to gradually deploy at its European cable subsidiaries supports the new Wi-Fi standard 802.11ac and enables speeds of up to 1.3Gbps in the home network.

The modem’s intelligent detection function constantly scrolls through all available Wi-Fi channels and automatically selects the frequency with the least interference. It also contains two telephone sockets and four gigabit Ethernet interfaces to connect PC, TV set or games console to the internet using an Ethernet cable.

The Connect Box is available to all new customers from now on signing up for Unitymedia’s Comfort or Premium subscription. Existing customers will be able to upgrade to the new modem generation during the course of next year.

Swiss cable operator UPC Cablecom was the first Liberty Global subsidiary in German-speaking Europe to introduce the Connect Box in mid-November 2015.
