The Ukrainian national telco Kyivstar has teamed up with Viasat to launch a new internet TV service.
Known as ‘Home TV’, it is already available in over 100 population centres in which Kyivstar has its FTTB network and gives viewers access to both TV and on demand on up to four different devices simultaneously.
Customers are offered four TV packages, consisting of 70 to 130 channels, for between UAH29 (€1.13) and UAH169 a month, with the content being provided by MTG’s Viasat, which already operates a DTH service in Ukraine.
Alongside ‘Home TV’, Kyivstar has a ‘Home Internet’ service. Using its FTTB network, connecting over 40,000 apartment buildings containing almost 4.5 million households, it currently has over 800,000 subscribers.
Local reports say that despite the appearance of Home TV, Kyivstar is still planning to launch its own IPTV service.
However, it has yet to be granted a licence to operate one by the regulator.
