The Russian state-owned transmission company RTRS has taken the unusual step of suing the TV channel Muz TV.
Vedomosti reports that in what is the first such action brought by the federal authority, it is demanding over R664 million (€9.48 million) from Muz TV for non payments of fees for broadcasting on the country’s second DTT multiplex.
Muz TV was launched in 1996 and is part of the YUTV holding, owned by Alisher Usmanov and Ivan Tavrin.
Besides operating a group of TV channels, YUTV is currently in the process of acquiring the national commercial broadcaster CTC Media.
