Dutch broadcaster SBS has launched a new online platform for short videos called S1.tv in cooperation with Social1influencers.
S1.tv bundles short form videos from a total of 25 young vloggers and is available as an on-demand streaming video service on pc, tablet, smartphone or connected tv.
The new portal is a joint venture with Multi Channel Network (MCN) Social1nfluencers and brings together vloggers that have already established a presence and following on YouTube. Earlier this year, Sanoma, of which SBS is a part, took a share in the company.
The broadcaster hopes to attract a young audience and sees S1.tv as a means to meet the changing media consumption behaviour.
SBS also owns and operates the on-demand streaming portal Kijk, but has so far failed to seriously compete with Netflix and NPO Gemist.
