Arris has given details of the advanced gateway it’s supplying across the Liberty Global network.

The TG2492 offers connection speeds of up to 1Gbps and the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology.

“Our portfolio of customer premises equipment continues to keep the world’s leading service providers ahead of consumer demand,” said Steve McCaffery, senior vice president, EMEA, ARRIS. “Our flagship Touchstone TG2492 wireless gateway will enable Liberty to deliver best-in-class Wi-Fi performance, faster speeds, and improved connectivity for an expanding number of consumer devices. This agreement showcases our position as Liberty’s premier technology partner and highlights our commitment to working with the world’s leading service providers to deliver the future of broadband and entertainment.”

Features include EuroDOCSIS 3.0 wireless EMTA featuring up to 24×8 channel bonding for enhanced broadband speeds; ual band concurrent 802.11n 2.4GHz and 802.11ac 5GHz radios for superior wireless coverage and performance and support for IPv6, Business Services, and Wi-Fi Hotspots.

“Our customers are streaming more content to more devices than ever before and therefore require the best in wireless performance,” said Doron Hacmon, Chief Product Officer, Liberty Global. “The Touchstone platform delivers a best-in-class experience today while also providing us with the flexibility to introduce even more innovative services for our customers in the future.”

Deployments of the Arris gateway and fellow supplier Compal are already underway with Telenet customers in Belgium and UPC customers in Romania. Broadband TV News understands that tests are also taking place in a number of Liberty territories including Virgin Media in the UK.
