Sony Pictures Television Networks (SPTN) has begun a process of restructuring its business in Russia in order to comply with the 20% foreign ownership restriction that comes into effect at the beginning of 2016.
TV Digest and AKTR report that it has already identified a number of potential Russian partners and is in negotiations with them.
They add that SPTN has stressed it will continue to operate in Russia after January 1.
The broadcaster currently distributes three pay-TV channels in the country, namely Sony Sci-Fi, Sony Entertainment Television and Sony Turbo.
