CNBC is to cut back the amount of content produced in its London studios. The Paris and Tokyo studios would close as the broadcaster looks to increase its online content.
News on News reported that flagship show Squawk Box Europe would remain, but up to 15 jobs could be at risk. It’s anticipated that some new jobs could be created in digital journalism following the successful trial of new live blogs.
It’s thought that shows including European Closing Bell and Worldwide Exchange, which are broadcast globally, would be the most likely London-produced shows to be cancelled.
The BBC recently abandoned plans to close its domestic news channel in favour of an extended digital presence.
