The Portuguese Media Regulator is placing additional obligations on transmission company MEO after a reduction in the number of DTT sites.
Anacom says it decided to bring in the new conditions after changes in recent years that have led to come consumers being forced to switch to satellite reception – with Anacom demanding that they are reimbursed for the costs involved in the change.
The information would be posted on the Anacom website.
It’s estimated that satellite reception acts as gap fill for 7.5% of the population; the remainder view digital television by terrestrial means.
The assistance would be made available up to 2023.
