Germany’s second-largest cable operator Unitymedia wants to introduce high-speed internet access with a data rate of 400Mbps in 2016.
The willingness to pay for high bandwidths continues to grow, the subsidiary of US media company Liberty Global stressed at the presentation of its latest quarterly figures. Unitymedia currently offers up to 200Mbps.
In Q3 2015 Unitymedia acquired 58,000 new internet and 47,000 new telephony customers. On 30 September 2015 the company served a total of more than 3 million internet and 2.9 million telephony customers.
51,000 new customers opted for multimedia box Horizon which now reaches a total of 421,000 customers.
