Broadband internet and telephony remained the growth drivers for cable operators UPC Austria and UPC Cablecom in Q3 2015.
UPC Austria increased its number of internet customers by 4,000 to 479,200 while the number of telephony clients rose by 6,800 to 382,000.
8,000 UPC Austria customers have signed up for a mobile tariff – a growth by 3,100 customers.
The number of classic cable TV subscribers, however, dropped by 3,500 to 504,000 customers, reflecting the strong competition from IPTV providers.
Swiss sister company UPC Cablecom also suffers from the rivals: The number of TV customers decreased by 21,500 to 1.3 million.
All other areas continued to grow at UPC Cablecom: The number of internet customers rose by 4,000 to 759,700 and the number of telephony customers climbed by 5,100 to 502,500. 24,800 customers have opted for the mobile phone tariff – an increase by 5,300 customers.
