The Polish National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has granted four licences for the country’s upcoming eighth DTT multiplex (MUX-8).
The first was awarded to TV Spectrum, which will operate a universal channel named TV# and offering feature films, series and entertainment programmes between 06.00 and 23.00 daily.
The second was awarded to Cable Television Network & Partners for Zoom TV, a universal channel whose output will include content produced by local cable operators.
Cable Television Network & Partners was established by the Polish Chamber of Electronic Communications (PIKE) and Zoom TV will be backed by Kino Polska TV.
The third was awarded to Green Content, which will operate a universal channel named Kiwi TV, and the fourth to WP1 (Wirtulane Polska), which will operate an interactive channel named WP1.
The biggest losers in the contest were arguably Polsat, the country’s leading commercial broadcaster, and Discovery Polska.
