Discovery Channel’s third quarter international revenues decreased by 9% in the third quarter as currency exchange wiped out the benefits of increased subscription rates.
The Eurosport owner reported revenues of $740 million. Excluding those currency effects and the impact of Eurosport and SBS Radio total revenues were actually up 9% on increased subscribers in both Latin America and Cental & East Europe.
Advertising revenues, excluding the impact of Eurosport, SBS Radio and currency, were up 12%, primarily due to higher volume and prices in Latin America and higher ratings, prices and volume in Southern Europe.
US revenue increased, but overall third quarter revenues decreased by 1% to $1,557 million.
