Austria’s Kabel-TV Lampert goes multiscreen with Zattoo

November 3, 2015 13.40 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

ZattooAustrian cable operator Kabel-TV Lampert has chosen the multiscreen TV platform solution of Swiss internet TV provider Zattoo to offer its customers TV packages on smartphones and tablets.

With the move, Kabel-TV Lampert responds to customer demands to receive its TV service on mobile devices. Zattoo will operate the offering as a white label product for Kabel-TV Lampert under the brand name Meine Welt unterwegs (My world on the go).

Zattoo which has been hosting and managing end-to-end multiscreen TV solutions for network operators and internet service providers for more than two years will handle the entire technical side of the platform, ranging from satellite ingestion to frontends (internet, iOS, Android). Customer relations will remain in the hands of the cable company.

The service which will launch before Christmas 2015 will be showcased by Zattoo at Austrian trade fair Cable Days in Salzburg on November 5 and 6, 2015.

Kabel-TV Lampert is Zattoo’s first customer in Austria. The company is one of Austria’s largest private cable operators serving 17,300 TV, 8,500 internet and 2,200 telephony customers.

“The new partnership with Kabel-TV Lampert is an affirmation of our strategy to build a strong B2B foothold in Europe alongside our B2C business,” said Gernot Jaeger, Zattoo’s chief officer B2B TV solutions. “We accomplish this by using what has already made us strong: our own end-to-end platform for distributing TV and video content. We offer a fully hosted ‘TV-as-a-service’ solution very interesting especially for smaller and medium-sized network operators in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.”
