The three main Dutch broadcasting groups will be testing live streaming on their premium catch-up OTT service NLZiet.
Public broadcaster NPO and private broadcast groups RTL and SBS will be offering their main eleven channels as live streams on Apple iOS devices. Casting the signal to TV sets using Chromecast or Apple TV will be possible.
A subscription to the commercial-free catch-up service costs EUR7.95 a month and offers hundreds of programmes on-demand.
At the moment, NPO already offers live streaming of its three main channels, NPO1, NPO2 and NPO3 on its own free-to-use OTT spp. In addition, live streams of all the thematic channels are available on the NPO website.
RTL and SBS so far do not have a stand-alone OTT live streaming service, but they each have an on-demand service. RTL plans to offer RTL4, RTL5, RTL& and RTL8, while SBS will stream SBS 6, Net 5 and Veronica.
Ziggo offers dozens of channels on its Horizon Go app, but a TV subscription to Ziggo is required. KPN plans to roll out its OTT service KPN Play, currently in beta, later this year offering live streams and on-demand content as a stand-alone product.
