DNMG continues to rely on M7 for German cable

October 20, 2015 20.36 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

M7 DeutschlandGerman platform operator M7 Deutschland and German cable operator association DNMG have extended their redistribution partnership until 2021.

Through an exclusive marketing agreement with M7, the association representing the interests of more than 185 independent local and regional cable operators in Germany, Austria and Switzerland provides its member companies with digital TV channels and services via satellite for carriage and marketing on their cable networks.

The goal is to strengthen the long-term competitiveness of medium-sized cable operators in digital media provision, according to the partners. The agreement also secures the network operators part of DNMG the long-term availability of M7’s B2B products at economically viable conditions.

Both parties also plan long-term marketing and sales activities to increase the penetration of digital TV offerings on cable networks with a focus on the HD versions of German commercial free-to-air TV channels and on foreign-language TV channels.

The M7 services are based on direct-to-cable platform KabelKiosk which the company took over from satellite operator Eutelsat in May 2014.
