Peter Boudgoust new Arte president from 2016

Peter Boudgoust (SWR Rafael Krötz)Peter Boudgoust, general director of Südwestrundfunk (SWR), the regional affiliate of German public broadcaster ARD serving Southwest Germany, will become the new president of European cultural channel Arte from January 1, 2016.

Arte’s member assembly appointed to 60-year-old to the position for a five-year term at today’s meeting in Strasbourg.

Boudgoust who will replace his French predecessor Véronique Cayla will occupy the Arte presidency in addition to his post as head of SWR. He was nominated Arte president by the shareholder assembly of Arte Deutschland TV in December 2014.

In accordance with Arte’s statutes, the Arte presidency changes between Germany and France with each term. From January 1, 2016 the German arm will be in charge of the position.
