The Russian DTH platform Raduga TV, which was backed by Modern Times Group (MTG) and officially ceased operations at the end of last year, may now be operating in a different form.
Quoting Obob.tv, Satkurier reports that the ABS-2 satellite at 75 degrees East, which was formerly used by Raduga TV, is now distributing a new Russian language service.
Known as TeRus (Television in Russian), it can be received in Southern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa and offers viewers 19 TV channels, three of which are in HD, with the total number soon set to rise to 23-24.
Employing Irdeto 2 encryption, TeRus can be viewed with a card that costs $20 to buy.
The platform is operated by GeoTelecommunications, which was formerly a joint owner of Raduga TV, and backed by the Luxembourg-registered company Continental Media.
