Eurocinema to launch new channel and VOD

October 3, 2015 18.32 Europe/London By by ROBERT BRIEL, MIPCOM2015, CANNES

Eurocinema-logoUS-based Eurocinema has announced plans to expand its global footprint with the launch of Eurocinema World, a 24/7 live channel and SVOD service.

The new channel will feature award-winning European films and select Euro-centric lifestyle segments.

Showcasing winners and nominees from the global film festival circuit, Eurocinema World will launch in early 2016 in US, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Operators will have the option to add Eurocinema World as a 24/7 live channel and/or an SVOD service. Partners will be announced shortly.

Since launching in 2007, Eurocinema has established itself as a VOD channel and online platform bringing US and Canadian audiences the very best in foreign film and international lifestyle content. Eurocinema grew from 300,000 at launch to over 37 million television homes today, on such major distributors as Comcast, Charter, Cablevision, Mediacom, Verizon and Shaw.

“Considering the rapidly growing demand for high quality programmed channels, Eurocinema World is perfect for the new OTT platforms that are emerging around the world,” comments Eurocinema’s president/CEO Sebastien Perioche.

“New platforms are seeking specialty channels offering unique and exciting content to differentiate their offering. We’ve recently witnessed a change in consumer demand from TVOD to SVOD, while linear remains a classic choice. We’re delighted to see that there’s still a real need for quality 24/7 live channels.”

Additionally, a Eurocinema World mobile app will be available in select territories in 2016, featuring a live stream of the channel and VOD.
