German sports broadcaster Sport1 will recommence using DTT to distribute its free-to-air channel.
NLM, the media authority of federal state Lower Saxony, allocated a slot on the DVB-T multiplex serving the Hannover/Braunschweig region to the commercial broadcaster at its latest assembly. The competing application by media group ProSiebenSat.1 for its women’s channel sixx was rejected.
The capacity in the multiplex became vacant as entertainment channel Anixe dismissed the allocation of slot in June 2015.
It is currently open when Sport1 will commence DTT transmissions, according to NLM, as the rejected applicant may take legal action against its decision at an administrative court.
The only region in which Sport1 has been available via DTT has been Berlin-Brandenburg. The channel left the multiplex in autumn 2010 for economic reasons.
