The Turner channel TNT will make its debut in Romania on October 6, replacing TCM, and will be distributed by all the leading cable operators in the country including RCS&RDS, UPC, Telekom and DCS.
Quoting Matthias Heinze, VP commercial, PR and marketing Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, CEE and Russia, speaking at a press conference in Bucharest, Mediafax reports that TNT is one of the strongest Turner brands, not just in the US but also in Germany and Spain, where it was launched a few years ago.
He added that the company wanted to address a wider and younger audience than it had with TCM and that Romania is one of Turner’s top three markets in CEE in terms of importance.
TNT will initially be offered in SD, with a HD version expected to follow in the near future.
Turner currently distributes Cartoon Network, CNN, TCM and Boomerang in Romania.
