Sony Pictures Television appoints new territory leaders

September 29, 2015 11.59 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has announced several appointments within its international distribution business.

The moves span Asia-Pacific, EMEA and Canada.

Mike Wald, EVP, international distribution, will return from London to Los Angeles and oversee the distribution and strategic management of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s (SPE) feature films and TV series to international free television, basic cable, subscription pay television and new media platforms, look at global opportunities and partnerships, and head up SPT’s distribution across Asia-Pacific.

Angel Orengo, EVP, international distribution, EMEA, will move from Hong Kong, where he oversaw the Asia-Pacific territory, and will now be based in the company’s London office, where he will lead SPT’s EMEA team as executive vice president of international distribution.

Alexander Marin, EVP, international distribution in Latin America and the Caribbean, will now also oversee Canada.

The announcement was made by Keith LeGoy, president of international distribution, to whom the three report.

Additionally, Robert Lanier was appointed SVP of international distribution, Asia-Pacific, covering Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Lanier will work out of the company’s Sydney office and report to Wald, as will Ken Lo, SVP of international distribution, Asia-Pacific, overseeing SPT’s distribution in China, India, Korea and Southeast Asia, and based in Hong Kong.

“All of these executives are amazing and talented leaders who have established excellent relationships across multiple territories. They are astute at responding to the specific needs of clients, while understanding the quickly evolving content marketplace around the world,” said Keith Le Goy, president, international distribution, Sony Pictures Television.

“These appointments not only allow them to bring their learning and expertise to different markets, but also underscore our commitment to developing and providing opportunities for our executives who excel.”
