The crisis at Romania’s public broadcaster TVR continues, with its president and CEO Stelian Tanase and the entire board of directors facing the prospect of dismissal.
Mediafax reports that the Romanian parliament could decide to dispense with their services as soon as today (September 23) when it votes on TVR’s activity report for 2014, which has already been rejected by the Culture Committee.
The broadcaster ended 2014 with a loss of RON81.5 million (€19.2 million), compare to a profit of RON2.5 million in 2013. However, TVR’s historical debts amounted to around RON800 million.
TVR says it made significant savings in H1 this year, reducing its total expenditure, compared to the approved budget, by 6.41%.
