Romanians are a “TV dependent” people, according to Mihai Ursoi, the country manager of SES Astra Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova.
Ursoi was speaking at a press event, quoted by Mediafax, in which the findings of a new study named Index of TV Consumption in Romania were made public.
They show that 84% of Romanian watch TV on a daily basis, with most preferring news channels and films in HD.
Over half (54%) of the 84% are active people in work, while 23% are retired. On any given day, 60% of people watch TV actively for two to three hours.
The study also found that Romanian on average watch 3.3 hours of TV on weekdays, with the figure rising to almost four hours at weekends, while 7% watch over eight hours on any day of the week.
Most Romanians (40%) have two TVs in their households, while 2% has six or more.
They are also interested in OTT as well as classical TV services.
News channels are the most watched (78%), followed by movies (57%), music (43%) and general/entertainment (41%).
In terms of station preference, Pro TV(21%) was in first place, followed by Kanal D (12%) and Antena 1 (10%).
