Interest in securing a slot on Poland’s upcoming DTT multiplex MUX-8 is stronger than expected, with at least nine bids having been received by the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT).
Although the regulator has still to confirm the names of the bidders following the September 18 deadline, Wirtulane Media reports that they are understood to include Telewizja Polsat, Agora, Telewizja Puls, Grupa ZPR Media, Wirtualna Polska, Kino Polska TV, Discovery Networks, Polska Izba Komunikacji Elektronicznej (PIKE) and Superstacja.
A total of four slots for universal, thematic channels are available on MUX-8, with the remaining three already allocated to the public broadcaster TVP.
Although the national transmission company Emitel has been chosen to operate the multiplex, two other bidders (POT and Time) have lodged complaints and this may delay its launch.
