Munich’s city broadcaster münchen.tv will become the first German local TV channel to launch a regular HD service.
The HD version will go on air on September 17, 2015 at 12.00 CET at the occasion of the upcoming Oktoberfest on the cable network of Vodafone Kabel Deutschland in Munich and surroundings.
münchen.tv can also be received on other cable networks, via satellite on Astra (19.2° East), on Deutsche Telekom’s IPTV platform Entertain, as a live-stream on its website and though the local TV app on smartphones and tablets. The HD version will also gradually be rolled out on these platforms, according to the broadcaster.
Last year, münchen.tv has already been broadcasting in HD quality during the Oktoberfest on Astra as part of a trial.
Bavarian media authority BLM recently encouraged all local and regional TV channels in Bavaria to offer their services in HD quality.
