Arris has been selected as the supplier of a new IPTV box for Telefonica’s Movistar+ platform.
The Spanish pay-TV platform is already deploying the VIP1113 to expand services across its growing customer base. A significant upgrade on the previous model, the VIP1113 features over 50% more processing capacity than Movistar+’s current set-tops and provides 1GB of memory.
“We’re excited to have a strategic partnership with one of Europe’s largest operators. We’re collaborating closely with Telefonica to get ahead of the strong growth in consumer demand for their content, their way. Our work to deploy the VIP1113 is paving the way for the IPTV revolution and positioning Telefonica as a leader in tomorrow’s IPTV services,” said Steve McCaffery, SVP of Sales EMEA & APAC at Arris.
Pablo Guaglianone, Managing Director of Arris in Spain, added, “We are pleased to work with Telefonica in Spain. Interactive TV has much relevance; our Consumer Entertainment Index shows that 77% of the connected people in Spain regularly binge (watch multiple episodes in one sitting) on television series and movies, and the typical duration of these binges has grown to more than 3 hours in the region.”
Telefonica has close to 1.9 million subscribers in its home market.
