Bulgaria’s Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) has approved the sale of the TV station Kanal 3 in record time.
Capital reports that its decision came only seven working days after it was notified about the sale and without undertaking an in-depth study into implications on the market.
It adds only on two previous occasions, each involving the buyers of Kanal 3 – the politician and media entrepreneur Delyan Peevsky, through his company New Bulgarian Media Group Holding (NBMGH) and in partnership with his mother Irena Krasteva – have such deals been pushed through.
The decision paves the way for NBMGH to acquire 100% of Kanal 3 from Elit Media Bulgaria.
