The share of Ultra HD screens among the TV sets sold in Germany has risen from 1% to 7.7% within one year.
Almost one in three Germans now want to buy an Ultra HD TV set, according to a GfK study commissioned by German industry association Deutsche TV Platform. The main reasons for the consumer interest are higher resolution and better picture quality.
Another trend are mobile video offerings on smartphones and tablets which are used by more than two-thirds of Germans, both on the go and at home. The most popular video service on mobile devices is YouTube followed by the TV broadcasters’ catch-up portals.
