XGEM adds NetRange smart TV portal to Philips boxes

September 3, 2015 10.43 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

XGEMXGEM, one of Europe’s largest vendors of set-top boxes and TV-related accessories, and German smart TV portal solutions provider NetRange have joined forces for XGEM’s upcoming generation of Philips set-top-boxes.

Through the NetRange smart TV portal, XGEM devices sold under the Philips brand will give access to content from various applications such as video-on-demand, catch-up TV, news, music, sports and cloud gaming.

Producing and exporting its products to more than 25 countries across the globe, Paris-based XGEM is widely regarded as a leading manufacturer of high quality, feature-rich digital TV and set-top-box products, according to a joint statement.

“We are looking forward to cooperating with a company that manufactures and ships millions of devices worldwide every year,” Jan Wendt, CEO of NetRange, said in Hamburg.

Nicolas Denis, CEO of XGEM, added: “The NetRange smart TV portal and OTT ecosystem will strongly enhance the competitiveness and the appeal of our new range of set-top-boxes.”
