Belarus will shortly see the launch of a music channel in 4K.
According to Obob and Satkurier, Pierwyj Muzykalnyj (First Music Channel) is currently undertaking test transmissions in the standard on its site www.one.by via the Yamal-402 satellite at 54.9 degrees East.
However, they add that the transmissions are actually via the nearby Express AM-6 satellite, located at 53 degrees East.
Aside from a 4K channel, Pierwyj Muzykalnyj says it also plans to launch a new channel named RUm, both in SD and HD.
Once up and running, Pierwyj Muzykalnyj 4K will not be distributed via satellite on cost grounds.
