TV ad spend in Russia was 22% lower in the first half of 2015 than in the same period last year.
Stats produced by the country’s Association of Communication Agencies and published by Kommersant show that it amounted to R61.6 billion (€852.5million), of which cable and satellite services claimed R920 million, down 52% year-on-year.
Total ad spend stood at R138 billion, down 16% on a year earlier, with the only growth being seen in internet spend, which at R34.8 billion was up by 15%.
There was little difference between the performance of the Russian ad market in the first and second quarters this year.
The situation appears to have stabilised and some industry sources do not envisage either an improvement or further deterioration in the forseeable future.
