The Romanian commercial broadcaster Prima TV has filed for bankruptcy.
According to Mediafax, it lodged an application at the Bucharest Tribunal on August 6 and the first hearing is scheduled for September 3.
However, it adds that another case registered on August 6 by the Prima Broadcasting Group, which operates Prima TV, at the Bucharest Tribunal, is to temporarily suspend the bankruptcy. No date has been set for the latter.
The licence for Prima TV is held by Graffiti Red, which lists Graffiti Marketing and Multimedia Holding (95%) and Diana Tobosaru (5%) as its shareholders. Graffiti Marketing and Multimedia Holding, in turn, is owned by the entrepreneur Cristian Burci. As previously reported in Broadband TV News, Prima TV was acquired by Burci from Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1 Group in December 2013.
Prima TV is one of the longest established commercial broadcasters in Romania, tracing its roots back to 1994. It was part of the SBS Group from 2000 to 2007, when it was taken over by ProSiebenSat.1.
