Jazztel has sold 13 centres of its FTTH network, providing access to around 720,000 homes in Spain’s largest cities, to Másmóvil.
According to El Economista, the move is part of the conditions imposed by the European Commission for the sale of Jazztel to Orange.
Alongside it, Másmóvil has been given wholesale access, at preferential rates, to Jazztel’s xDSL network for four years, renewable for a further four years.
This will effectively allow Másmóvil to provide services to 78% of Spain’s territory, reaching 18.6 million homes.
In effect, it will become the country’s fourth national operator.
The acquisition of Jazztel by Orange is expected to close next month.
