Janusz Daszczynski, the new president of the Polish public broadcaster TVP, has provided an outline of its future strategy.
It envisages a return to its public service remit and the end of its tabloidisation of news programming.
The latter has already seen the replacement of the director of Television Information Agency (TAI) in order to make TVP’s news more impartial and objective.
Daszczynski also said he wants to see TVP’s regional branches returned to their former importance.
In addition, he said that TVP’s board aims to finalise its strategy for 2016-2010 by the end of this year.
Among other points he made was the ruling out of further outsourcing at TVP.
Meanwhile, Wirtualne Media, quoting Daszczynski, reports that TVP may launch a popular science channel and also one aimed at viewers aged 55+.
