The Bulgarian channel News7 is no longer being distributed terrestrially due to non-payment of fees to the multiplex operator NURTS.
However, reports Capital, it is still available to cable and DTH subscribers.
Furthermore, its sister channel TV7 continues to be distributed via DTT.
Both TV7 and News7 hold 15-year DTT licences and have to pay annual fees to the Electronic Media Council (CEM).
In Capital’s view, News7’s withdrawal exposes flaws in the law and it remains to be seen if a similar fate now awaits TV7, which has found itself in a financial and managerial crisis for the past year.
