German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has added a download function to its mobile service Sky Go.
With Sky Go Extra, subscribers can watch movies, series, documentaries and children’s programmes without an internet connection, for example in an airplane, in a car, hotel or at the beach, even abroad.
In contrast to Sky Go, Sky Go Extra is not included in the pay-TV subscription, but costs €4.99 extra per month. The contract can be cancelled monthly.
Ahead of a period abroad, the content has to be downloaded in Germany or Austria to the smartphone or tablet as downloads are only possible in the subscriber’s home country – via Wi-Fi or mobile network.
The offline mode comprises up to 25 titles (a maximum of 5 movies) at the same time. The downloaded content remains available for 30 days. When viewing has started, the content is accessible for 48 hours.
