The management board at the public broadcaster TVP has expressed its astonishment at the low amount of funds from receiver licence fees it will receive for 2016.
In a statement, it says that its president, Juliusz Braun, has asked Jan Dworak, the head of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), to change the proportion that will be allocated next year to TVP vis-à-vis Polish Radio and regional radio services.
As things stand, TVP will receive only PLN335 million (€79.7 million) in 2016, or PLN44 million less than this year. In 2014, TVP was allocated PLN444 million.
Braun pointed out that TVP currently incurs around 76.7% of all public service broadcasting costs in Poland.
He added that it needs a minimum of PLN380 million to fulfill its public service mission.
