On demand services have suffered a major setback in the Czech Republic, with two closing on the same day.
According to Digizone, both Topfun and Ivio ceased operations on June 30.
The former, which was one of the oldest such services both in the country and in Slovakia, having been launched around 10 years ago.
It was operated by the Slovak investment group J&T, whose others interests include the Slovak broadcaster Joj.
Topfun competed most directly with Voyo, the SVOD service offered by CME stations TV Nova and Markiza TV in the Czech Republic and Slovakia respectively.
Despite signing agreements with major Hollywood studios, it lacked the support that Voyo enjoys.
Meanwhile, Ivio was one of the newest on demand services on the market.
Its business model was to provide movies for free, with funding obtained from advertising.
