Thorsten Dirks has been appointed the new president of Bitkom, the German industry association for companies in the digital economy.
The CEO of mobile network operator Telefónica Deutschland was elected unanimously for the position at Bitkom’s annual assembly in Berlin. He will succeed Dieter Kempf who has completed his regular two-term period.
In the next two years, Dirks will act as the voice of the around 1,500 companies of Germany’s digital economy represented by Bitkom. The 52-year old wants to strengthen the association’s role as a driving force of convergence and digitalisation.
