7NXT, a subsidiary of German commercial broadcast group ProSiebenSat.1 for digital activities, wants to acquire the majority stake in DOSB New Media, according to German industry magazine new business.
The company founded by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) operates online platforms focusing on sports including Sportdeutschland.TV. The online sports channel shows competitions from more than 70 Olympic sports as live-streams or on-demand, for example the Volleyball Bundesliga, the Table Tennis Bundesliga and the second-division Basketball Bundesliga.
DOSB and ProSiebenSat.1 want to considerably expand the online sports coverage as part of their partnership in future, according to the report. DOSB will continue to be part of the venture as a shareholder in DOSB New Media.
The acquisition is subject to approval by Germany’s federal cartel office Bundeskartellamt.
