Hispasat will announce a similar alliance to the one it entered into with Intelsat in 2014 within the next few days, according to Ignacio Sanchis, the company’s CCO.
Speaking at the third Hispasat Satellite Innovation Days in London, he added that it was close to buying another operator last year and is looking for M&As, with a view to eventually becoming one of the top five satellite operators in the world.
Sanchis said that despite 204 being a challenging year, Hispasat still managed to grow.
There were three strands to this growth, with the first being organic. Hispasat launched its latest satellite last year and has three more under construction.
Its spend in the period 2012-2016 will be €1 billion, which is unprecedented for the company. The second strand was alliances and the third inorganic.
Sanchis also said that Hispasat increasingly sees the UK as a market that can offer it a lot of opportunities.
