The Croatian public broadcaster HRT plans to launch an OTT service next year.
Speaking in the opening session of NEM 2015, Sasa Runjic, its programme director, said it would be free to view by its customers and not commercial at any level, with the investment coming entirely from HRT.
Runjic also said that HRT increasingly sees itself as a content producer rather than broadcaster.
In addition, he felt the entry of global OTT players into Croatia presented a threat to local producers, though not so much to HRT.
Asked about Ultra HD, Runjic said it was something HRT was moving towards, but slowly.
