ADB and Vector Show the Power of OTT

May 31, 2015 09.04 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

ADB be showcasing its range of leading Over-the-Top TV (OTT) solutions at ANGA 2015.

Visitors to the Vector booth – hall 10.2, K15, will see how ADB and VECTOR are working together to enable service providers and operators across Europe to maximize the cloud and deliver superior OTT video services across platforms and devices.

Today’s consumers expect access to more content, across more devices, anytime and anywhere. But, in an increasingly competitive TV landscape, operators, telecoms and content providers need to adopt the right technologies to deliver first-class OTT services. ADB is working with VECTOR to help local operators overcome the challenges of today’s evolving TV landscape and launch innovative personal TV services.

“2015 is sure to be an explosive year for OTT. Consumer viewing habits are changing and more and more consumers are shifting from traditional TV viewing and turning to the smaller screen to watch their favourite content,” said Peter Balchin, CEO at ADB. “OTT is a significant part of ADB´s software and solutions proposal. We have the right technology, expertise and delivery capability to help operators win and retain customers, and ultimately increase their return on investment.”

ADB has deep experience in delivering the right solutions to help operators extend their services across fixed and mobile devices both in and outside the home. Its systems solutions deliver content to a multi-platform environment and include features such as Start-Over, CatchUp-TV and Cloud DVR. Moreover, ADB’s expertise in content protection and streaming technology also means it can supports most DRMs, including MS PlayReady, Nagra PRM and Marlin DRM.

“OTT is more than just a buzzword – it’s the online video phenomenon that is spreading very fast and is far from reaching saturation point,” said Gerald Wood, CMO at ADB. “Operators in particular have this in mind, and are looking for ways to integrate OTT and to minimize consumer churn. We have been working closely with our regional solutions partner VECTOR for many years. Together we are able to provide operators, broadcasters, TV service providers and content owners with local expertise and highly efficient solutions to meet all their OTT needs.”

During ANGA, visitors will be able to see ADB’s full OTT product suite, including its GraphyneOTT application. GraphyneOTT is the first multi-DRM solution that supports user experience management and allows OTT service providers to upgrade to a live, linear broadcast service. This is the critical feature of the solution that changes additional cloud services into regular transmission and allows operators to switch completely and exclusively to OTT. Once they do, they cut cost of transmission, give customers what they want and increase their revenue streams thanks to new VOD, cloud-DVR and other OTT services.

Balchin added, “We understand that today consumers expect more from their TV service provider than ever before, and they want to watch their favourite content anytime and anywhere. The ADB portfolio combines the right systems and software solutions to provide superior OTT experiences.”
